Mountain Wags Newsletter #7: All-Natural Pet Tummy Trouble Remedies
We can all have tummy troubles from time to time and our beloved pets, dogs and cats alike, are no different.
Below are five tried and true suggestions from Wags to help get your pet's gut back on the right track when needed! (all suggestions below are for dogs - the ones for cats will specifically say!)
1. Honest Kitchen Perfect Form:
This all-natural powder supplement is great for dogs and cats (as long as you can convince kitty to eat it). You measure out how much to use based on weight.
It helps with upset tummies by reducing loose stools due to environmental stress, dietary indiscretion, or transitioning to a new diet.
You want to make the powder into a paste - can combine with equal parts water or a more liquid-based wet food with the powder.
2. Nummy Tum-Tum Organic Pumpkin & Sweet Potato:
As we've discussed in a previous newsletter, both pumpkin and sweet potato can help with tummy troubles in dogs and cats (again, if you can convince your kitty to eat it).
It's a great regulator whether you're looking to reduce loose stools or, on the other spectrum, trying to alleviate constipation.
You measure it out based on your pet's weight and can combine with wet food to further entice them to eat it.
3. Natural Balance Chicken & Sweet Potato Canned Dog Food:
This wet dog food is a great option when your dog isn't feeling up to par. Mild on the stomach with a limited ingredient panel makes for easy digestion.
Often time people will mix this canned food with Nummy Tum-Tum Organic Pumpkin to really help your doggy's upset tummy calm down.
4. Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken Dog & Cat Canned Food:
This food is exactly like it sounds: just chicken, chicken broth, vitamins, and not much else.
It's a very mild, but still tasty food, for that more particular pet (both dogs and cats) that is having tummy troubles.
It's great to mix with pumpkin and/or Honest Kitchen Perfect Form to really get your pet's gut back on track.
5. Grandma Lucy's Simple Remedy:
A very common upset tummy remedy for dogs is to just make them chicken and rice and feed them that for a few meals until their tummy flare up dies down.
However, it's sometimes inconvenient if you're traveling with your pet and don't have a kitchen or if you just don't have the time to make chicken and rice from scratch.
That's where Grandma Lucy's Simple Remedy comes in: it's a premixed bag. All you have to do is add boiling water (can heat water in microwave) and voila! You've got a mild food for your pooch!
